First Pink Wednesday!

So it's my first ever Pink Wednesday post and I've been contemplating about what kind of mani I wanted to do. I came across Chloe's blog and found this awesome funky french tutorial using scotch tape and I thought I'd give it a go but put my own little twist on it! I used Let Them Eat Rice Cake from OPI's Japanese Collection - I think it's an older polish because it still has the thin brush. I then topped it off with Seche Vite and waited a couple minutes for it to dry. I cut my scotch tape and used Zoya's Lolly polish from the 2011 Mod Matte Collection to give it an interesting look. I hope you guys enjoy!

 These were taken indoors.

I tried to take outdoor shots but it's been so gloomy so I apologize
for the craptastic lighting! I will try to make a lightbox soon =)

I think my thumb actually looks best because I was lazy and just
kept reusing the same piece of tape over and over again hahah!

I think this went well! Next time, I'll just cut new pieces of tape for each nail so the lines can be more crisp. Overall though, I really enjoyed doing this mani and hopefully I can use scotch tape to do other ones in the future!  My first Pink Wednesday is complete =)

Thank you to these two beautiful ladies ^_^

Essie Haul

So I've pretty much been on the hunt for a billion and one nail polishes to add to my growing collection. And believe me -- it's growing! At a really scary pace actually. I'm beginning to freak myself out a little hahah. I try not to look at my bank statements at the end of the month in fear of how much these babies have cost me. But, I digress... Here is my first ever Essie Haul!

These were taken indoors because it's been incredibly gloomy
as of late. Where did the summer sunshine go?!

L-R: Haute as Hello, Van D'Go, Splash of Grenadine, French Affair, Nice is Nice

L-R: Smooth Sailing (one of my lemmings!), Fair Game, Chinchilly
(another lemming!), Sew Psyched, Mint Candy Apple, Going Incognito

But wait, the best part is... I only paid $3-$3.50 for each one! My hunt for polishes brought me to this random beauty supply that honestly looked a little sketchy before going in. Once inside though, I was in nail polish heaaaven. I can't wait to try these colors out. I've been itching to get my hands on some Essies. Now I have no excuse not to give these wonderful polishes a go! I can't wait for tomorrow's Pink Wednesday mani... I have something in mind that I think might turn out pretty awesome. We'll see though. I have a billion other polishes that I got in a massive haul which I will detail in a future post as well. This just sounds like too many polishes! But wait... too many polishes? NEVER!

China Glaze Watermelon Rind

Hi all! Summer is in full swing and what better way to enjoy it than by wearing one of the best summer colors released from China Glaze's 2009 Summer Days Collection. =)

Watermelon Rind - what a fabulous name!

Taken in different areas of the shade.

 In direct sunlight.

 Indoors under artificial light.

Left: indoors, Middle: shade, Right: sunlight.

Dare I say that this color looks absolutely *juicy*?! Watermelon Rind is a blue-green/teal color with an almost silver shimmer. This makes me want to have a picnic or run through a field with my arms flailing all over the place lol. Bottom line, definitely a summer worthy color - and possibly even a summer activity inducing one at that!

I recently went on another nail polish binge and I have lots to share. =) I ran across some really incredible deals and amazing finds. I'll post all the details in a future entry because I'm totally excited to show what I ended up with.  Until then, enjoy your summer days everyone and have a great start to your week!

Floral Mauve Design

So I gave the Konad/fauxnad plates another try and while it didn't turn out perfect, I must say I am quite pleased!  I was contemplating what color combination I should use and finally decided on some type of pink/mauve/pastel burgundy mix. I used Uptown Girl. a dusty mauve from Color Club's Spring 2010 Rebel Debutante Collection as a base. For stamping, I used Admire, a light pink silver-ish color from China Glaze's Spring 2009 Romantique Collection.  I also used image plate BM 221.

These were all taken in direct sunlight.

These were taken in the shade.

I didn't think I'd like Uptown Girl at first because looking at the color itself in the bottle seems kinda flat to me. But when I painted it on the nail, it just looked gorgeous! I would totally wear it alone. I bought Admire and almost all the other China Glaze polishes from the Romantique Collection specifically for stamping because I heard they are a little streaky on their own. Either way, the color is fabulous and the designs came out (for the most part) great! I love this =)

*Sigh* So pretty!

It is has been absolutely beautiful outside lately. Go enjoy the weather everyone and Happy Friday! <3

Sinful Colors: Glitter Comparison

Hello hello! I recently bought several Sinful Colors glitter polishes since I heard some good things about them. I decided to try and compare the 4 most popular ones to see how they stack up against each other! All the photos show the colors in the following order: Call You Later (yellow-green), Nail Junkie (teal), Hottie (blue), and Frenzy (purple).

Look at these lovelies =)

I first wanted to paint these without a base. This is 2 thick coats each.
Top photo: in the shade, Bottom photo: in direct sunlight.

I then layered the glitters on top of 2 coats of Sally Hansen Black Out.
Top photo: in the shade, Bottom 2 photos: in direct sunlight.
Goodness, look at how they shine and glisten! Ahhh!!

Here are the individual glitters. Click to enlarge.

Oh goodness, are you in love yet?? Nail Junkie and Hottie both display holographic glitter that Call You Later and Frenzy don't seem to quite have. Well, not quite as pronounced anyway.  They also have several different glitter sizes while the other two seem to have the same size with a variation of different solid glitter colors.  I think my favorite might have to be Hottie, the second color from the right. But in all honesty, I love them all! These were around $2 each from Walgreens but I know you can also order them online from CherryCulture.com.  Either way, you need to get your hands on them! They are nothing short of fabulous =)

What are you waiting for? They are calling your name! ;)

Zoya Gemma

Today, I have for you an absolutely GORGEOUS military/olive green color by Zoya. Her name is Gemma -- and she does not disappoint!

What a beauty!

Here she is outdoors in direct sunlight. Can you see that
purple shimmer peaking through?! UGH, just amazing.
