To a New Year

Hi everyone. I did not forget about this blog :). I've just been preoccupied with life. Yes, life happens. This will not make up for my absence but it will show you that I have not been neglecting my nails (pinky swear). Remember when my nails were this long?

Zoya Sooki

Well like I said, life happens! Family, friends, new jobs, new responsibilities, new nails! Now I normally don't do nail spam on my blog but I've been keeping a few mani photos on hand during my hiatus so here they are. It's mini spam but hey, at least it's something :D. Looks like it was back to basics, guys...

Jade Vermelho Surreal & Mystic Gold

I'm sure most of you fellow polish addicts have heard the buzz about the awesome new Jade Holografico polishes from Brazil right?? (<-- wow that was a mouthful!) Today's post will feature two of the more unique shades from their collection. Let's take a look! Both of these were taken in direct sunlight with flash.

One coat of Jade Holografico Vermelho Surreal

Had to add an extra pic of this indoors with flash
This is how it looks most of the time. A gorgeous vibrant red <3

Two coats of Jade Holografico Mystic Gold

Aren't they gorgeous?? C'mon, who's heard of a true red and/or gold holo before? Exactly! One of the best things about these holos is that they aren't the special kind that need an aqua base (like Nfu Oh's, Laylas, Gosh, etc). I applied both of these polishes without a top coat for maximum holographic blingy-ness. Dry time was pretty good! They were soooooo pigmented you guys! I still have several from the rest of the collection that I can't wait to try out. So, do you own any of the new Jade Holograficos? Planning to get some soon? You should! =D Thanks for reading lovelies!

Barielle Falling Star

Hi beautiful people! This is my first Barielle mani and I am pleased to tell you all that I am happy with the results. The application, however, is a different story. This was seriously Goopy McGooperson as far as formula goes. I had to add at least 15 drops of thinner to get it to a consistency I thought was good for application. That's really saying something since I usually don't mind goopy formulas so much but this formula was goopy. The saving grace is that it is a unique color. Let's take a look, shall we?

Left: Indoors, Middle: Shade, Right: Sunlight

Like I said, this is a unique color so I was pretty forgiving given the sheisty formula. It took two coats to get complete coverage but it also needed an extra coat of Seche Vite due to the bumpyness caused by all the red glitter. Was it worth it? I think so. But then again, I love unique polishes and it's hard for me to resist colors and finishes that aren't so common. I'd say it's definitely a color worth getting if you're planning to make a Barielle purchase some time soon. I believe they are buy one get one 50% off on their site right now. Sometimes they even have site-wide sales in addition to their regular prices. So there yah go. My first Barielle mani but most certainly not my last. Thanks for reading and happy Monday people!

A Hello Kitty Valentine's Day

Why hello all you beauties out there. Did you all have a lovely Valentine's Day? I sure hope so! Today's polish is kinda special. This mani actually features the first salon-esque polish I ever bought before I became seriously addicted in love (oh, how apropo!) with nail polish =). I walked into my local Ulta searching for a nice red to go with a black cocktail dress I had in mind for a special event. The color I ended up with was China Glaze High Roller - a true red creme that leaned ever-so-slightly towards the jellyish side. This was my first ever China Glaze peeps!!! And then you could probably guess what happened soon after that *shifty eyes towards polish stash*...

Anyway! If you're wondering why my accent nail looks so familiar, it's because it's also featured in my profile picture! This was the first type of nail art I ever did and I thought it was only fitting to dedicate this mani to my first loves. So naturally this had to include Hello Kitty ^_^. Without further ado, here is my Valentine's Day mani...

I used the LA Colors Art Deco striping polishes to freehand the Hello Kitty onto my accent nail and finished it off with a simple french using China Glaze's Ring in the Red from the most recent 2011 Winter Holiday collection.  Hope you guys like it and hope you all got to celebrate with your sweethearts! Thanks for reading guys! XOXO

Mythical Creatures Week: Vampire Monday

So Makeup Alley (MUA) has deemed it Mythical Creatures Week! It's pretty exciting to come up with a different yet creative mani every day for an entire week straight. I hope I'm up for the challenge! Monday brings us our first mythical creature - the Vampire. Vampires were once mere mortals who were turned into blood lusting creatures shunned by daylight and forced to live in darkness for the rest of eternity. Dramatic enough for you? Hahaha... then I hope this mani lives up to your expectations!

Rawr! Thirsty for some blood yet? =P

I had an extremely fun time doing this mani. First, I matte-ified the China Glaze Ruby Pumps on my main nails then did a shiny jagged french. They didn't happen to stand out as much as I'd like so I added some black jagged french tips with Sally Hansen's Blackout. The accent nail was Jitter Bug underneath OPI's Red Shatter. This is a really easy mani to do and if you're patient, you can easily get the same dramatic effect!  I hope you lovely ladies enjoyed this.  I'm excited for tomorrow's mani and I'm wracking my brain trying to think of a creative way to do that one. Totally looking forward to it! Until then, Happy Vampire Monday everyone!

Yummy polishes!

So, who is YOUR favorite vampire? =P The inner tween in me finds it necessary to include pictures of the Salvatore Brothers for some much needed eye candy lol.

So, has this satiated your blood thirsty Monday yet? =P
