Scherer Chameleon Blue Sky

Hi guys! Lazy weekend post for today features a duochrome polish by the brand Scherer Chameleon in Blue Sky. Duh, you guys knew that from the title, right?? I know I'm not one to usually feature many duo/multi-chromes but this one was too pretty to pass up... look at all the pretty purple/green/blue/teal colors!

Don't you just love bottle shots like these?? =D You can find this one at your local Rite Aid store for around $3-4. I think sometimes they go on sale for even cheaper. I bought 3 of these but if I recall correctly, there were at least 5 total duochrome polishes I saw that day. Sorry guys, my memory is failing me right now since I bought these so long ago -- I'm talking last year long ago. Yeah... my untrieds list is ridonkulous. Shhh!

I know some people have had complaints about the formula bubbling and what not so here are a few tips & tricks I used to avoid the B-word mess:
  • The formula was a bit thick so add a few drops of thinner
  • This polish dries lightning quick so WORK FAST
  • Apply thicker coats of polish to give yourself some leeway when working the formula
  • Sandwich with a top coat, polish, then another top coat! This helped especially well with bubbles
Hrmm... I guess that was a not-so-lazy weekend post afterall. Oops! Have a great one you guys! ^_^

Old School Mani: Milani Lavender Twinkle

Why hello all you lovely polish lovers out there. How have you all been? I've been having an absolutely awesome day so far and I hope you've been having the same! Today's mani is a throw back to the old school days -- the days when I had no clue how to properly appreciate nail polish. Yes... this polish is an oldie but a goodie. It was recently given to me by a wonderful fellow polish lover who I got to know through this awesome online community. She not only fulfilled several of my long time lemmings, but she also introduced me to some fabulous polishes that I never even knew existed before my time! It is only appropriate, of course, that I share this wonderful beauty with you all. So here I have for you Milani Lavender Twinkle...

Ahhh!!! You must enlarge the pictures to fully appreciate the beauty of this polish in all it's glory.  This was 4 coats >_< I usually don't like doing that many coats but trust me, this one was worth it (even with some shrinkage due to my fast dry top coat). Not only is it a soft lavender-grey, it also comes packed with hints of blue and purple shimmer. I couldn't help but stare at it all day especially when it caught the sun and just sparkled like mad! Unfortunately, this one is long discontinued (as are some other fabulous ones no doubt). I'm sure there are a ton of beauties that came out before I started getting into nail polish but I feel pretty lucky that I own this one. What do you guys think? Are there any polishes "before your time" when you wish you had been a nail polish fiend fanatic? ^_^

  • Enter my giveaway by clicking here. Ends October 15th, 2011.
  • Get your 50% off Aveyou Beauty card by clicking here. Details are in this post.
  • New link! I have a swap list page that you can access here or at the top of my blog. Let's swap! ^_^
Onto today's lazy weekend post! First, some pictures...

Such sparkly goodness, no? =)

Here's an extra pic in direct sunlight for good measure

I had a mini accident involving my ring finger hence all the redness =(. But anyway, the base color was Essie Nice is Nice and the glitter gradient was done with OPI Crown Me Already. I passed on Crown Me Already so many times before I finally got it. I'm so glad I did because it's a limited edition polish! BTW, you can find it both of these at Aveyou. How's that for some incentive? =P Have a wonderful rest of your weekend everyone!

Double Glitter French: CQ Silver Violet + Sinful Colors Frenzy

Hello all you lovely people out there.  Don't forget to enter my giveaway which ends on October 15th! Click here or on the sidebar for more details. =)

The other day I went on a little nail polish hunting adventure and stopped by several stores in my area to see if there were any hidden treasures I had yet to discover. Sure enough, I found several brands that were unknown to me until that very trip. Today, I am featuring a brand called CQ that was found at my local Rite Aid drugstore. The base color I used is called Silver Violet (how original lol) and my glitter accent was actually done with Sinful Colors Frenzy (which I have already reviewed in a previous post here).  The double French stripe that I did is actually like the design I featured in this post but with glitter instead of just regular nail polish colors. These little glitter details are great when you don't want to have a full on glitter mani but still like some pop and sparkle on your tips!

I'm a sucker for pretty purples

Left: indoors, Middle: shade, Right: sunlight

Silver Violet is a lavender creme with tiny silver and iridescent purple shimmer specks. If you look closely enough, there are even small bits of silver flakes that show up when the light hits it juuuuust right. Of course, this is me being super duper observant but hey, it's the little details right? =D Sinful Colors Frenzy is polish that is packed with tons of blue and purple glitter that's perfect for blinging up any mani. I think with the flash in these photos, I can't help but feel that I have slight lobster hand syndrome lol. But maybe that's just me being paranoid!...

So my nails have gotten pretty long lately. I think this is the longest it's been in a while and I am very tempted to chop all that length off! Still contemplating whether I should nubbinized them or try a different shape. I have done squoval and square. Wondering if oval or even stiletto nails would work? Ooooh, the possibilities. I'm probably just gonna leave them like the lazy bum that I am until they get on my nerves lol. Gotta be careful they don't get too long and break though! Anyway, I hope you all had a fabulous Labor Day weekend... welcome back to the regular week! =D

4 Special Polishes From Canada

From the title you can already tell that what I have for you today will be quite unique. I guess I'm glad that I do all those lazy weekend posts because they seem to be offset by huge posts like the one I'm about to do today. Well actually, this post is primarily gonna be pictures. You see, I loooove looking at pictures! Sometimes when I read blogs, I don't even read them. Yep. Guilty. I just scroll through and admire the pictures. That's why I always like putting in a healthy dose of pictures for you guys! Half of you are probably skipping over these very words... hahah!

So what I have to share with all you lovelies is a special package I received from a wonderful Canadian blogger. You totally need to check out her blog - nailXchange - it's filled with all kinds of goodies any lacquer lover would appreciate. I surprisingly won her last 'Name It & Win It' contest and ended up with some ridiculously amazing polishes. Polishes that were actually frankens - original creations by the amazing beauty herself!  *sigh* How did I get so lucky?? Also, because I thought there was no way in HECK I would ever win said prize, I went pretty out there with the names. You'll see what I mean... and no, I was not under the influence of anything when I was thinking of them... teeheehee.

From L to R: Purple Haze, Don't Drink the Koolaid, Black Market,
and Acid Trippin'. LOL, yes you did read that correctly.

Acid Trippin' - A stunning "subtle" fusion of a scattered/
linear purple holo. Ain't she a purdy thang??

Don't Drink the Koolaid - A magenta flakie + microshimmer
I think this polish conveniently fills the Pink Wednesday quota for the week =)

Purple Haze - An almost jelly-like flakie + microshimmer

Black Market - A black jelly flakie. I think this one is my favorite!

There you have it! Four amazingly beautiful and unique polishes by the one and only nailXchange. If you like these polishes, go on over and check out her blog for more eye candy! I believe she is actually currently hosting a giveaway right now and will also be giving away Black Market as featured above in a (very near) future contest! So fabulous... just fabulous I tell you!
